Council Bluffs Lewis Central scored a match-winning first-half goal to eliminate the Winterset-Earlham girls from further post season play in a Class 2-A regional final Monday.

Winterset-Earlham pounded Carlisle in a first-round match last week, 8-2, with freshman Joey Parker and Alex Putney each scoring two goals in the match. W-E led at the half, 5-2, and then shut out Carlisle in the second half, adding three insurance goals.

Freshman Darci Wiseman also had solo goals for W-E, as did juniors Kailey Beebe and Alyssa Dickey, as well as sophomore Kinsey Beebe. Kailey Beebe and Joey Parker each had assists.

In the Class 2-A tournament, top-ranked ADM-Van Meter (17-1) meets Burlington Notre Dame/Danville (15-2) while Spencer (19-1) plays CR Xavier (14-4). Waverly-Shell Rock will plays CB Lewis Central while No. 3 DC-Grimes (13-2) meet 15-2 Pella.

Waukee, Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, WDM Valley and Dowling are among the Class 3-A final eight.
