Earlham girls’ skid now at three games

The Earlham girls’ losing streak was extended to three games by visiting Montezuma on Friday, as the Lady Cards were contained to 14 points in the first half and then again in the second half.

None of the Earlham girls scored in double figures, although junior Alli Boyle scored six points and had 10 rebounds.

Earlham’s Alli Boyle had a team-leading 10 rebounds and scored six points against  visiting Montezuma last Friday. Montezuma rolled, 53-28, holding the Cards to 14 points in each half.

Earlham was paced by senior Rachel Smith who had eight points, and hit two of two from the free throw line.

Montezuma opened the game with a 19-7 run, and then went on a 15-7 run to close out the first half.

Earlham was held to two points in the third quarter. 

Earlham fell to 3-5 on the season and hosted Madrid Tuesday night in a conference match-up.

Earlham ended the year with a 70-59 December 17 loss to AC/GC at Guthrie Center and a six-point 48-42 loss to visiting Van Meter on Dec. 20.

Senior Rachel Smith of Earlham paced the Lady Cards with eight points against visiting Montezuma last Friday. Montezuma rolled, 53-28. Montezuma held Earlham to two points in the third quarter. Earlham hosted Madrid last night (Tuesday) and hosts the Roadrunners of I-35 on Friday. Earlham was 3-5 heading into Tuesday night.

Boyle leads all scores with 117 points scored this season. Rachel Smith has 100 points. Smith leads the team in three-point goals with 14 this season, putting her among the top eight in the West Central Activities Conference for three-point goals made.

Earlham freshman Kara Hohertz leads the team with 51 rebounds this year, and she is tied for ninth in the conference in caroms.
