With all that has been going on in the world lately, here is a poem that I wrote and would with like to share.
What if we instill in our youth a sense of self-worth and self respect?
What if our young people are taught that all life matters?
What if our young people are taught to appreciate diversity instead of fearing diversity?
What if the young are told that it is OK to be different?
What if the young are made to know that know that everyone deserves love, kindness, and respect?
Then maybe, just maybe, there wouldn’t be as many teen suicides.
There would be fewer cases of eating disorders.
There would be fewer cases of drug addiction.
There would be fewer hate crimes.
Gang wars and massive shootings wouldn’t be the problem that they are now.
The prisons would be less crowded.
And society would benefit from having more productive members.
Then maybe, just maybe, the world would be a better place.
