Harriet Ann Husted, 81, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at the West Bridge Care Center in Winterset, with her family by her side.
Order of the Eastern Star services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Visitation will follow with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial services are 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Kale Funeral Home with Mike Albert, Spiritual Care Counselor from EveryStep Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in the Blair Chapel Cemetery in Madison County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Truro Library.
Harriet was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Winterset, Iowa, to Max and Catherine (Clark) Kilpatrick. Harriet attended Winterset High School graduating in 1957. Harriet married her high school sweetheart, Bill Husted in June of 1957. They moved to a farm outside Truro, where they farmed and raised their family. They were blessed with two daughters. Harriet worked on the farm and raised her family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sweet Adeline’s. Harriet served on the Truro Library Board and the election board in Truro for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Husted; her parents, Max and Catherine Kilpatrick; grandson, Billie Stuart; and brother-in-law, Merritt Woodley.
She is survived by her two children, Joanie (Terry) Stuart of New Virginia and Melissa Husted of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyliss Woodley of Winterset; and two nephews, David and Doug Woodley.
