September will be here before we know it which means it is time to purchase your tickets for the Evening Under the Stars fundraiser. Evening under the starts is a special event hosted each year by Madison County Foundation for Environmental Education (MCFEE) on behalf of the Madison County Conservation Board. Evening Under the Stars provides an opportunity to spend a fun-filled evening with friends while enjoying a social hour with local wine and live musical entertainment, a delicious homemade meal, and live and silent auctions.
This year, Evening Under the Stars will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21. The event will be a special celebration of the progress that has been made towards the new Madison County Conservation Center.
We invite you to join in the fun and help us celebrate at our new venue, Covered Bridges Winery as we highlight the things that help make Madison County a great place: locally sourced food and produce, local wine, local music and donations by local artisans.
The event will begin with a social hour at 5:00 pm with appetizers and a chance to check out the silent auction items. Covered Bridges winery will be serving their local wines inside the winery during the event.
A homemade dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The dinner will feature locally sourced food and locally grown produce.
The live auction will begin at 7:30 pm. Auction items for the live and silent auctions include a hand-crafted canoe paddle, a hand painted barn quilt, a Templeton Rye swag package, a hand-crafted wood bowl, Speckled Hens Farm merchandise, a kayak package, locally crafted jewelry and much more. Stay tuned to future editions of the Outdoor page for more details on additional auction items. The auction will be led again this year by Steve Hartman and his crew.
MCFEE would like to thank the many sponsors for the 2019 Evening Under the Stars event including Covered Bridges Winery, Madison County Pork Producers, Union State Bank, Farmers and Merchants, JOW & Smith PC, Madison County Abstract and Steve Hartman. Also, thank you to the many local businesses and artisans that have provided items for the auction.
This year, MCFEE aims to celebrate the progress towards the new center while recognizing the community members that have been working tirelessly to help raise the funds and many of the donors that have already contributed to the project
Over the last year and a half, fund raising has been one of the main priorities of the conservation center project. Thanks to several generous donations and private grants, around 73% of the project has now been funded.
The Madison County Conservation Board, and our Foundation (MCFEE) aim to reach the fundraising goal by the end of this year. In order for that to happen, we need your help. Please come out to Covered Bridges Winery on Sept. 21 and support the new conservation center.
