The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is holding a virtual Local Working Group meeting on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. on Zoom and invites the public to participate.
Madison County SWCD is developing its long-term Soil & Water Resource Conservation Plan, which will guide our focus and actions for the next five years. In an effort to reflect the resources and the conservation issues and objectives of our county, the SWCD is striving for a “locally led” process and seeking input from the public.
The Local Working Group will meet to discuss soil, water, recreation, and wildlife resources, as well as land management.
In addition to identifying priorities for the SWCD, the Soil & Water Resource Conservation Plan will be able to provide information for updates to the Madison County Comprehensive Plan. Their conservation activities may originate in the interest in protecting our soil, water, and other natural resources, but conservation practices and programs may also provide benefits for roads, streams, and other infrastructure.
To participate in this meeting, please register by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, by calling the Madison County SWCD at 515-462-2961 x3 or sending an email to Megan.Sutton@ia.nacdnet.net. Registrants will be provided participation information (link to Zoom meeting, or phone number to call in).
