County supervisors Tuesday selected their new leadership for 2020, electing Phil Clifton as board chairman and Diane Fitch as vice-chair.
Supervisor Aaron Price had been 2019 chair of the three-member board.
County supervisors also designated the Winterset Madisonian as the official newspaper of Madison County.
There are about 25 panels and committees on which county supervisors serve. All three supervisors are members of both the county assessor’s conference board and the County Community Services group.
The other committees on which supervisors serve:
Phil Clifton: County Courthouse Security Committee, County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC); County Resource Enhancement & Protection (REAP) committee; County Safety Committee; Decategorization (DCAT) Governance Board; Metropolitan Planning Organization; Iowa Heartland RC&D.
Diane Fitch: Emergency Management Commission, 5th Judicial District Board; South Central Iowa Landfill Agency; Greater Madison County Community Foundation; Madison County Multi-Purpose Center Advisory Board; MATURA Action Agency Board; South Iowa Council of Governments (SICOG); Iowa Workforce Development.
Aaron Price: County Covered Bridge Preservation Board; County Healthy Insurance Committee; Aging Resources of Iowa; Madison County Development Alliance Group; Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) MHDS Region; Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA); Central Iowa Recovery.
The board also appointed MCDG chairman Tom Leners as an alternate on the DM Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
Officials also divided the general supervision and oversight of various county properties: the courthouse, annex, north annex, the DHS building, the Ambulance/Elderly meal site Building and the various Buildings and Grounds.
