Two gardens which offered some very enticing drive-by views were recognized as Gardens of the Month for September by the local Sunshine Garden Club.
Ethel Lee Osborn Tucker received the garden of the month distinction for the 16 limelight hydrangeas and a healthy crop of pampas grass which adorn her residence at 303 E. South St. At age 90, she still waters and cares for a variety of flowers which beautify her property each season.
Having purchased the property with her husband in 2004, it took two years to prepare the home and remove multiple trees before the couple moved into the property in 2006.
Kate Hartman at 413 E. Green St. has a complete all-around flower garden with a unique look on each side of the home. She received recognition for her raised vegetable and fruit beds which can be viewed from the alley and the plants around her garage.
Sunshine Garden Club also noted an exceptionally large hyacinth ruby beam vine with exemplary large healthy leaves.
