First United Presbyterian Church is hosting its annual Chili Cook-Off this Sunday at 11:45 a.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. A number of church members, including Pastor Randy Lubbers, will be competing for the as-yet-undetermined first prize award.

One insider says with a smile, “like in the movie ‘A Christmas Story,’ this will be a Major Award.”

Pastor Lubbers will be entering his own version of “Texas Chain Gang Chili,” but there will be a milder version available too. For tenderfoots, there will be turkey chili available too. The event is open to all and free.

First United Presbyterian Church is located at 210 W. Green Street, just two blocks off the Winterset Square. Sunday morning worship services begin at 10:15 a.m. For more information, call 462-3261, or contact Pastor Randy Lubbers via email at or by phone or text at 507-317-9814.
