The Winterset Public Library kicked off the summer with Touch a Truck on Saturday morning. Eight large vehicles were on site and several smaller ones as well.

Touch a Truck

City councilman Mike Fletcher participated in this year’s Touch a Truck.

Kids were able to touch and safely explore big trucks and heavy machinery they would not otherwise have been able to see up close. Kids also had the opportunity to meet the employees who run the vehicles, who were in attendance to answer any questions. Kids were encouraged to sign up for summer reading inside the library as well.

Touch a Truck

Around 700 people attended the popular Touch a Truck event. Kids and adults alike got a chance to be up close to some of the big (and small) equipment that is used in and around Madison County. City vehicles from the street department, the fire department, police and more helped with the event.

This year’s summer reading program theme is “A Universe of Stories at Your Library”: it’s all about space and the universe.
