Horses are just part of the hugely popular Horse Parade which rolled once again on Saturday, May 25, to help celebrate on John Wayne’s birthday weekend. The procession began at the Madison County Fairgrounds and meandered past shaded Victorian residences and through downtown’s Courthouse Historic District.

The exquisite saddle, draft and carriage horses are real crowd-pleasers and a perfect complement to the other activities in Winterset over the weekend.

Winterset wrestlers marched in the parade, and a cavalcade of tractors joined the fray as well.

Frank Santana coordinated the 2019 Horse Parade.
