With the cancellation of the Pride of Winterset Variety Show in April, and the postponing of “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!” until June 24-27, 2021, there won’t be much of a “season” this year at The Winterset Stage.

“We’re still committed to bringing quality programming to our community when and how we can, and we continue to look for ways to do that in the new environment we’re facing,” say organizers at the Stage.

One of the changes this year is to offer a two-year membership instead of the normal annual membership. Of course none of us know what exactly the future holds, but The Winterset Stage is optimistic that they can still bring “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” in December and a full season in 2021.

In the meantime, they’re working on providing some different experiences that can still feed your theatrical appetite.

July 8-12, The Winterset Stage is sponsoring a showing of the classic musical “Bye Bye Birdie” at the Iowa Theater. Admission to that film will be free for Winterset Stage members. There will also be some small group experiences available for young actors in the month of July.

Summer 2020 Children’s Theater

Join The Winterset Stage this summer for a “lite” version of their typical summer Children’s Theater programming.

Meetings will be outdoors, keep space from one another as much as possible while playing favorite theater games, exploring verbal and non-verbal expression and communication, and enjoying the company of fellow “stage kids”.

Sessions are $15 each, and will be held 8:30-10 a.m. at Winterset City Park.

July 8 and July 24 sessions are geared toward children ages 4-7, while July 13 and 30 session are geared toward children ages 8-11. Material will be repeated in each session, but you can sign up for as many as you want.

Drop-off and pick-up at the Winterset City Park parking lot. Class size is limited to eight students. Minimum of four students needed to hold class. Class will be held except in the case of thunderstorms or lightning.

Discounts are available for Winterset Stage members (and siblings who register together).
