Madison County 4-H and FFA youth had the opportunity to compete and show their livestock at the 2020 Fair Special Edition: Iowa 4-H and FFA Livestock Show which was held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds over three weeks, Thursday through Saturday – Aug. 6-8, 13-15 and 20-22.
Presented by Alliant Energy, maintaining the same prominence and competition found at the Iowa State Fair, the 2020 Special Edition focused on the superior showmanship, hard work, and determination of Iowa’s 4-H and FFA members.
With the beloved Iowa State Fair postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this Special Edition version gave officials the chance to support the mission statement of the fair by providing youth from 4-H and FFA an opportunity to showcase their livestock projects.
The show was open to Iowa 4-H and FFA exhibitors who had nominated livestock projects for the 2020 Iowa State Fair. FFA exhibitors competed in the following livestock categories: beef, horse, meat goat, poultry and rabbit. The poultry and rabbit shows did not require a nomination.
Exhibitors also competed in the categories of sheep, swine, dairy cattle and dairy goats. 4-H members also showed livestock in the dairy cattle and dairy goats categories along with beef, horse, meat goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep and swine.
